In this introductory Drypoint Workshop, participants will transform everyday recycled materials such as plastic clamshell lids into unique printing plates using simple tools like wall nails. This hands-on class is open to both beginners and experienced artists interested in adding low-fi printmaking techniques to their creative practice. All materials provided. An email will be sent by the instructor with instructions on what to bring as visual references.

In this fun 5 week intro printmaking workshop you will be immersed in two very accessible printmaking techniques – Tetra Pak Collagraph and Monotype. In the first half of the course, we’ll explore making collagraph using recycled materials like milk cartons! You’ll learn how to create texture and tone and how to print with soy based ink. In the second half of the course, you will learn the amazing technique of monotype to build upon your collagraph prints. There will be plenty of time for play and experimenting. A small list of stationery items will be required to be brought to class by students (e.g. scissors and exacto knife etc), otherwise all material costs are included. No drawing experience necessary. All levels welcome. Please note: this class is suitable for both experienced artists/printmakers who want to expand on their techniques and beginners who want to try their hands on printmaking. 

In this Intro to Drypoint 1 day workshop I'll introduce you to this 15th century old printmaking technique. We're using recycled materials like clamshell plastic lids and sharp tools around the house to make a printed etching. ​You'll also learn how to make a print in your kitchen without a press with this technique. All material costs are included. Make some prints with your 12+ kid(s)! This is a great way for a parent/caregiver to work alongside their 12+ kids in the studio! No art experience necessary.
